Um, that’s creepy. Apparently, if tasers don’t work to subdue somebody, police can call a perimedic to give somebody a shot of Versed. This stuff is often used when giving somebody a colonoscopy to sedate them somewhat and make it so they don’t remember what happened. If that’s what they used with me when I had the dreaded thing done, mission accomplished.
In the case they referenced in the story, I understand why they did it. The guy sounded like he was nuts times 10, and tasers weren’t working, so they had to do something, I guess. Just the idea of being given amnesia when you’re under arrest gives me the shivers. I know there are a hell of a lot of awesome cops out there, but…it only takes one bad one, and the person who doesn’t remember how the arrest went down doesn’t have a hope in hell of telling his/her side of the story.
