I don’t even know why I’m posting this, except the damn song keeps getting stuck in my head…oh, and roundabouts scare me.
In Kitchener, I guess they’ve put in a roundabout, one of those weird circle intersection dealies where all the cars drive around it and pedestrians have to decide when it’s safe and then go and it somehow makes traffic flow easier. Here’s why they scare me. I have to listen to traffic flow and that’s the only way I can know if it’s safe. If trafic isn’t going either beside me or in front of me, it’s hard for me to judge when it’s good to go. if it’s constantly going in lots of directions, I’m confused.
Anyway, I guess they felt they needed to do an ad campaign to tell people how to cross it, and did it in a nice happy video. You have to choose small or large, and quicktime or Windows Media Player, but then you’ll see the video, and then get plagued by that damn song.
Is it me, or is the message basically that we pedestrians had better learn to run like squirrels because the cars rule and we’re just lucky to be allowed to share their space?
Happy singing about the roundabout dance.
