The other day, I came across the A is for Atom videos. Here’s part 1 and here’s part 2. This made me think something. This would have made some confused kids. Both videos were created in the early 50’s. So, first they see the Duck and cover video, which tells them that all they have to do to protect themselves from the atom bomb is to put a cloth over their face, and then they see this video which details, among other things, the destructive powers of the atom bomb. I know if I were a kid, I’d have my hand up to say “Um, how would a newspaper or a shirt protect me from that much bomb?” Then, the teacher would have to set off the independent thought alarm.
I’m just sayin’.
