HMV launches digital store

I haven’t had a chance to try this out yet, but I sure like the sound of it. The tracks are in mp3 format, not infected with one of those ridiculous digital rights management schemes that effectively tells you that no, your music is not in fact your music and if we ever shut the servers off you’re out your money and your songs. It also has one of my favourite features of theCDBabydigital downloads area, the ability to quickly log into your account from anywhere and download anything you’ve paid for again in case files get corrupted or lost in a crash or even if you just don’t happen to have them with you where you are and would like to listen to them. Any computer file is prone to trouble, and it’s nice not to have to buy things over and over again like you do with traditional media. The only things I’m not sure about yet are file quality, the price for singles and albums and the accessibility of the service itself. I’ll likely write more about those aspects of it when I know more, but if any of you want to try it out and let me know what you think, you can go toHMVDigital.ca.
