That didn’t take long.National anthem won’t change: PMO
“We offered to hear from Canadians on this issue and they have already spoken loud and clear. They overwhelmingly do not want to open the issue,” said Dimitri Soudas, a spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office. “The government will not proceed any further to change our national anthem.”
The people spoke and the government acted quickly on what it was told. I think that may be a political first. It’s too bad that something like this A. doesn’t happen more routinely and B. doesn’t happen more routinely when the issue is actually one that needs looking at.
Now since we’re kind of on a wee bit of a role, how’s about letting us have a gander at thoseunedited Afghan detainee documentsthat everybody wants to see, or is that too real an issue?
