What kind of psycho throws a knife at her brother during an argument over gas prices? Never mind that it stabbed her one-year-old niece in the head when her brother ducked, and the baby is now in serious condition. She threw a knife over gas prices! What did she hope to accomplish by throwing a knife at her brother? Wouldn’t it have been horrible if the last thing the brother and sister did was fight over gas prices before she killed him? Really, what possible good could come out of that?
It makes me think of when I used to get mad when I was a kid. In my head, I would imagine wanting to hit someone or kick somebody or something. But then I would think “Well, if you did that, what would happen next?” First, I’d think “Well, they could hit me back, and hurt me more.” But I also realized I wouldn’t be able to face them after that. It may have felt good in the moment, but there’s always the next day, and the day after that, and it didn’t take me long to think that hitting or kicking someone solves nothing. If I could reason that out at 10, what’s wrong with this woman?
I’m sure Lorraine Bulloch will have a lot of time to think about consequences as they wait at her niece’s bedside to find out whether the baby lives or dies, or whether she will have lasting damage from the knife…that her aunt threw at a family member…in an argument over gas prices.
