Last year, I mentioned the accessible built environment standard. Well, this year, it’s time to give comment on the integrated accessibility regulation. This is the employment, transportation and information and communications standards smushed together into one big fat ol’ standard. Read it and comment by October 16. If that comment link doesn’t work, there should be one you can click on yourself where they give you directions on how to comment by mail, phone, TTY, or email.
I’m not impressed that websites only have to comply to Level A of WCAG 2.0 for years and years, which is the most basic level of accessibility. But I can hope that more will strive for Double A sooner than that. At least this legislation is making folks think about accessibility more seriously.
So go read it, and share your thoughts.
