Part of me wants to give this unnamed Winnipeg criminal a tiny bit of credit for at least being persistent, but let’s be serious, if you fail at robbery 6 times in one night, then finally get it right on the 7th try only to be arrested moments later, you don’t deserve any.
The first business was the vegetarian burger restaurant Boon Burger on Sherbrook Avenue. There were 10 customers inside when the man walked in claiming he had a gun.
Server Hanna Doucet rushed to the back of the restaurant and called 911.
“Well, he wasn’t a very good robber and kind of an idiot for going to six places in one night. And he wasn’t very careful — he let me go to the back and I called police right away,” she said.
The second business on the man’s list was the Kornerstop Foods store, located in a strip mall next door to Boon Burger.
‘”I have a gun, I want your cash,'” Tanya Hirst, a clerk at the store, said the man told her.
“I said, ‘No I’m not giving it to you, so you might as well go.’ Then he turned around and left.”
He did manage to lose police once as they chased him through town, but his luck ran out moments after he knocked off a Tim Hortons for an undisclosed amount of cash.
I can hardly wait until the jail escape attempts start.
