Remember back when I posted about Access Recreation Day? Remember how it was off in the future? Well, it’s today! The day has arrived, and we watch all our hard work pay off.
It looks like we’re going to have a fun day. We’ve got 9 organizations setting up booths, an information table with brochures and stuff from other organizations, tours of West End Community Centre with accessibility in mind, live demonstrations of Goalball and wheelchair basketball and an opportunity for people to give it a try, lots of neat equipment courtesy of Cyndy McLean and Backpeddling Bicycle Emporium. We’ve got it all. Now we just need lots of enthusiastic audience members!
Steve will be there as well, and he’s going to run around and hopefully get some good recordings from the organizations who have set up booths, and he’s going to try and record some Goalball, which I’m going to try and play. Oh my my. I haven’t played Goalball in years. Ah, it’ll be an adventure. Plus, I’ll be tweeting on behalf of the committee. Maybe I’ll be able to slip some tweets in from my personal account.
So, if you live in or near Guelph, come on out to Access Recreation Day. We would love to see you, and you never know what you might learn!
