I feel like I just keep asking for stuff, but here goes.
I’ve talked a lot about my Nokia N86. Well, I’ve discovered that it and Talks aren’t too kind to me when I’m using the web browser. For some reason, no matter how hard I try, I can’t enter text into edit fields. All the keys keep acting as quick navigation keys instead of um realizing I’m in an edit field. This even happens after I’ve hit select on the edit field. I’ve been told that I need to update my firmware and this should fix the problem.
Um, erm, and here’s where I get scared. I have never updated firmware before. What do I have to do to make sure I don’t turn my phone into a Nokia n80-Bricks? Do I have to back up Talks stuff somewhere? What about contacts? third-party software? I can’t seem to get a straight answer, and once I reveal just how much of a firmware-updating idiot I am, the crowd of helpful people goes dead silent.
Someone, pleeease, would you be so kind as to educate this phone firmware nitwit before I’m a sobbing heap who has ruined the phone?
And I’m sure that once I’ve done it once, I will laugh at myself. I’ve just never done it, and I haven’t found awesome instructions about whether or not you lose Talks, KNFB Reader, and all that stuff. I don’t really want to find out the hard way, especially not during a week when I really need my phone to be working.
