Remember years ago when we started hearing all about how biometrics like fingerprint and eye scanners were going to be the unbreakable security of the future? If you’re like me, your first thought wasn’t that’s pretty neat. It was more like how long is it going to be until somebody loses a finger or 2 when a criminal needs ’em for something in a pinch? I’m still not sure if that’s happened, but faked fingers, the non-violent edition is here, and the result is pretty much what I figured. It works perfectly until someone catches you.
A Brazilian doctor faces charges of fraud after being caught on camera using silicone fingers to sign in for work for absent colleagues, police say.
Thaune Nunes Ferreira, 29, was arrested on Sunday for using prosthetic fingers to fool the biometric employee attendance device used at the hospital where she works near Sao Paulo.
She is accused of covering up the absence of six colleagues.
