In A World Where Hal Douglas Is No Longer Doing Voiceovers…

This is sad news.

Hal Douglas, whose booming voice was known to generations of moviegoers and TV watchers, has died at 89.

Douglas’ daughter Sarah told The New York Times that the Connecticut native with the famous baritone died of pancreatic cancer last week.

Right now you might be racking your brain trying to figure out exactly who hal Douglas is. But if the name doesn’t sound familiar, the voice will. He’s one of the “In a world…” guys from all those movie and TV show commercials.

I’ll be honest, I often get him mixed up with Don LaFontaine, who died in 2008.

Both great at what they did, and now both gone. Voices like that don’t come along every day.

Just to end this on a happy note, here’s Hal making fun of himself in an ad for Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedian movie back in 2002.
