Some more classic Blue Jays audio by way of Toronto Mike.
This time, it’s the last few minutes of the game that clinched the Jays the 1992 ALCS and sent them off to the World Series, which they would eventually win in six games over the Atlanta Braves. This audio is also from a game six, but against the Oakland Athletics.
I’ve never heard this radio call. This was one of the rare times that anyone other than me had baseball on in our house, so I ended up watching it on TV instead. I remember those guys (whoever they were) doing a pretty good job of capturing the moment, but for nearly teenage me, the moment did a fine job of capturing itself. But listening to Tom Cheek here, I can feel that excitement and anticipation all these years later. Looking back, perhaps I should have ditched the family and headed for the radio. I would have been bouncing off the walls. It’s so great.
