Today is a great day for Blue Jays fans. After years of campaigning especially by Mike Wilner, Tom Cheek has won the Ford C. Frick award and is now exactly where he belongs, the Hall of Fame!
Even though he’s been gone for nearly 8 years, there’s still not a game that goes bye that I don’t miss him at least a little. He’s one of the best of all time, and it’s fantastic he’s finally being recognized as such.
If you want to hear how good he was, click the link and listen to the audio near the bottom of the post. It’s Tom’s call of the bottom of the 9th inning of game 6 of the 1993 World Series. It runs just over 17 minutes, and it’s worth listening to even if you’ve heard it a million times.
“Touch ’em all, Joe”!
