This is kind of neat.
If you live in Kitchener and need one, you can now borrow a WiFi hotspot from the public library.
Anyone age 18 or older with a library card can borrow one of the devices for up to three weeks, just like borrowing a book or a DVD.
The devices, which cost about $100 apiece, allow anyone to access the Internet with their laptop or mobile device, for free. They offer unlimited data and work anywhere in Canada where there is Rogers cell coverage. Overdue fines are $1 a day, and there is a $100 replacement fee if the device is lost or damaged.
For now they’re only available at the Central branch, which is located at 85 Queen Street North.
