Something Tells Me This Book Won’t Be Available In The Ludington Library

I don’t know how to feel about this story. A librarian in the small town of Ludington wrote an unflattering book about her experience in the library. She did use a pen name, but she used a picture of her town’s library on the cover. Soon enough, because people could figure out who she was talking about in her book, she was suspended, then fired.

Ok, on the one hand, it was based out of a fictional town in a fictitious library, so nobody got named, so noone was being slandered. But on the other, is it really a good idea to badmouth people with highly-recognizable characteristics in a small town, and then slap a picture of that small town’s library on the cover? She said she used the picture because it looked like your stereotypical library. Couldn’t she pick another one that wasn’t located where she was from? I think it’s ironic that she got fired for writing a book when she works at a library, a place that’s supposed to encourage free speech. It’s just such an odd story.
