I thought about posting this closer to Christmas, but oh no, friends. I will not do you such a great disservice. For by the time Christmas arrives, I expect that we will all have learned it front to back and have made it the centerpiece of any and all caroling in which we engage…assuming that we’re ever allowed to do that again.
The lyrics, chord progression, and vocal melody of this new Christmas song were generated by artificial intelligence. I used a neural network called Jukebox (by OpenAI | https://openai.com/blog/jukebox/) to generate audio clips in the style of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas is You” and compiled the best bits into a song. I then recorded myself singing it, and this is the result.
